one of the things that initially attracted me to Yowamushi Pedal was the character designs. many sequential artists and animators will tell you that one common method of character design is to focus on basic shapes and shape repetition -not necessary, but an easy way to build distinct and memorable characters. Yowamushi Pedal is the first anime/manga series i’ve seen to utilize this method

here are some of the more prominent examples i’ve seen. Onoda gets special mention for often being rendered as a jumble of scribbled ellipses in the manga
